Wondering how a shared drive with others works? Read answers about trip distance, rules, weather and comfort.
It depends on the distance. A trip to a neighboring state can take a few hours, while a drive across several states can take a full day or more. Plan for stops along the way.
Some roads have tolls, and the amounts and payment methods differ by state. Some tolls use electronic tags, and others take cash or cards. Check toll roads on your route to avoid surprises.
Some people travel between states every week for work, study or family, and a steady carpool can make that easier. Look through the rides for your route and compare days and times with your schedule.
Riders often meet at a public, well-lit spot such as a parking lot, shopping center or transit station. Choose a place that is easy to find and reach, with safe parking and other people around.
Besides carpool, NRIS lists real estate, jobs, a business directory, movies, events and classifieds. NRI community members can open any section, then return to interstate rides whenever they like.
